Grandma Donna's Birthday Party
This past holiday weekend, we traveled to Moline, IL to celebrate a very special day. Grandma Donna's 80th Birthday. We got there Sat. afternoon and we were welcomed with open arms from Grandma Donna....(that's how we always start our weekend visits and we end it with another hug from her.) we were also welcomed with open arms from Paul's Aunt Cindy, Liz, Dave and Grandma Michelle and Grandpa Danny, as well as Chris and Angie and Marin.
The whole clan gathered at St. Mary's and sat in the first three pews at church in honor of Grandma Donna's birthday. The Priest mentioned that it was nice to see family at the front of the church for a special occasion like this.... (usually he sees families there for funerals.)
After mass, we had a nice get together and dinner at Aunt Terri's and Uncle John's House. If it would have been warmer, we had the opportunity to swim, but it was too chilly. Connor enjoyed the Hawaiian Punch slushies and he teased me once saying that he was drinking the yellow slush (Margarita mix!) I personally enjoyed the yummy no-bake dessert with the pecans and coconut!
That night the kids were so tired that they were in the state of excitement and it took a good hour or so to get them to sleep....Miss O did sleep in the pack n play finally without escaping every 15 minutes.....(what are we going to do for vacation?)
Sunday, we had a wonderful breakfast of luscious cinnamon rolls and tasty egg casserole. After a quick clean up of 10 people (Grandma has an outstanding water heater!) We stuffed berries, dipped them in chocolate, and the men set up the tent in rain.
By party time, the weather was excellent and it started to get a bit warm with the sun and heat. There was a nice turn out and Grandma Donna was enjoying her day, she was non-stop smiling. The desserts were delicious, I think I tasted all of them by the end of the party...(My diet started yesterday again!) After a great dinner hosted by Uncle Phil and Patty, we headed out.....and it was good timing for one thing Miss O was hollering and needed down time from the stimulus of the party and from being extra tired and no naps and number two; we got back home in time and missed the tornadic storms that were blowing across the state.
By the ten 0 clock news, I saw that Butler Cty had been hit by tornado, so I called Mom and Dad to make sure they were okay...they were too far north east of the Tornado that hit Parkersburg....my heart goes out to all of those people that lost their homes and loved ones....even the school was flattened.....thank goodness their graduation celebration was last Sunday or there could have been more casualties.
I'm grateful that my Aunt Lola who lives in that town is okay and her house is fine. But my heart and prayers go out to my my brother-in-law's friend's family who lost everything but each other. Makes us think that we can't take anything with us when we leave this earth, what is MOST important is our lives and the quality of our life and what we do for others, not the quantity of things that we have............
So enough of narration....let's check out how we enjoyed quality time together as a family and celebrating Grandma Donna's 80th.

The best picture for last! Marin was giving us the cutest faces this weekend and Paul was able to get a shot of the face......is this the most adorable face you've ever seen???? I can already tell that she's got a good sense of humor! She's also the most laid back child I've seen, doesn't get frustrated at all, takes everything with ease. I've gotaa get some pointers from her.
Okay, avid blog readers.....here is the update, I promise to blog as much as I can......
